MAKING AN IMPRESSION WITH YOUR RESTAURANT DESIGN

Planning & Designing your Restaurant Furniture…

Making a great first impression is essential to every service driven business. The restaurant industry is certainly no different, in fact, it is crucial to the longevity of a restaurant and its success. From the menu, to the ambience, to the waiter staff, every aspect must be considered objectively, and only when the matter is thoroughly assessed can one begin to establish customers as regulars. Your restaurant furniture plays a huge part in the overall finish of your restaurant, and indeed the overall impression.

  1. Seating design: Designing your seating plan as effectively as possible, will be crucial to the initial stages of design. From covers to comfort, it is essential you know your customer and get the flow of the space just right. Sit at every table and in every booth. Every customer in your restaurant should be part of the room; no seat of table should be isolated or left looking a blank wall. If there is a table you’d rather not be sat at, change it around. If you’re lucky enough to have customers waiting for tables, make they’re stay as pleasant as possible, bar stools are a must.
  2. Comfort vs. Practicality: When choosing a restaurant chair, comfort and practicality can sometime be conflicting essentials. Practicality will often lead you to choose easily cleaned, easily moved, easily stacked, plastic side chairs, taking up the minimum amount of space. However if you are serving a three course meal at a five star restaurant, your customer may be less than comfortable. Knowing you customer and weighing up even measures of comfort and practicality, is the way forward. Know you place within the market and choose accordingly to reflect your food and clientele.
  3. Cleanliness: Every week your restaurant seating, banquettes and booths, and tables need breaking down and thoroughly cleaned. Every grove of the seating needs attention as well as maintaining the quality of your table tops. It sounds simple, but how well are your staff tackling kick boards and deep fluted seating?
  4. Quality: Purchasing furniture at bottom line prices is a false economy. Customers will appreciate quality furnishings and durability does not come cheap. Budget correctly for your furniture, and always consider the lead time. Buying furniture that will last will in the long run save you money.
