Chai Ki: Possibly the most stylish Toddy Bar in the world

Situated in the Cross rail place sector of the Canary Wharf shopping mall, Chai Ki offers commuters an authentic Indian soul food experience. Hill Cross has supplied bespoke industrial hairpin chairs, stools and bespoke tables for the venue to help complete the stunning interior designed by DesignLSM.

The Toddy bar and dining room comes from owner Rohit Chugh who also owns the hugely popular Roti Chai, the Indian street food kitchen based in Marylebone for which Hill Cross also worked alongside DesignLSM as a trusted supplier by delivering an interior which is bright and modern but also holds the relaxed and intimate ambience which Chugh wanted to bring from India.

Inspired by coastal drinking dens of India, the Toddy menu of Chai Ki offers modern Indian cuisine such as sharing plates, buns and kari – all of which work well any time of the day with an ice cold beer or cider, a glass of wine or a special spiced signature cocktail.

Bright walls and feature lighting was paired with industrial styled furniture to achieve a welcoming but street-inspired look for the venue. The darkly stained furniture reflects the light of the venue giving a gentle glow. Bespoke long dining tables with blackened steel bases were paired with stunning bespoke made hairpin stools with character oak seats. Bold stackable hairpin chairs finished in a bold black were crafted and expertly matched with rustic oak-styled tables with distressed vintage table bases, which add another subtle touch of 'industrial' to the venues palette.
