FEATURE STITCHING: FOR A TRULY UNIQUE FINISH

The last few years arguably have seen the biggest shift in design for hospitality interiors due to the huge move in consumers dining habits leading to the rise of ‘casual dining’. Casual dining spaces are relaxed, non-formal and friendly. Visually they are more stripped back with non-pretentious design choices. These choices have led to a well of authentic and creative ideas including unique back stitching finishes of bespoke-made banquette and booth seating.
Over the last few years Hill Cross have perfected the art of banquette and booth manufacturing – working with cruise ships, healthcare groups, conference centres and blue-chip companies our team of upholsterers and seamstresses have honed their skills on standard finishes of banquette seating including; fluting, deep buttoning, rolls and squares so much that the quality which we produce is unparalleled.
Over the last year, working with the designers and project teams of some of the world’s favourite dining establishments Hill Cross have further developed their specialist skills to be able to produce exceptionally intricate stitched finishes.
Macaulay Sinclair designed an array of bespoke furniture pieces for Nando’s, York.  Hill Cross helped to create the stunning eating space, rich in African influenced design. The Wavy backed bench is a perfect example of expert feature stitching and is a truly unique piece of furniture.  It sits 5.8 metres long with hairpin legs, the deeply upholstered bench’s ‘wavy’ stitch is consistent throughout, producing a bold and striking visual.

Another example of where feature stitching has been used to create the “Wow” factor is the Cirencester branch of Pizza Express, where a skyline of the town featuring an array of buildings from its rich history were added to ‘Settle’ base backs to achieve a venue which captures the identity of the town.
Our seamstresses can produce a test sample of your interior project – some examples are below but the possibilities also extend to flowers, patterns and writing, for example if the brand identity of the venue has a tag line this can be added to the corner of a banquette or booth or the name of the venue can be stitched.
